Defined as “the transdisciplinary study of how the arts and aesthetic experiences measurably change the body, brain, and behavior and how this knowledge is translated into specific practices that advance health and wellbeing” Neuroaesthetics is a field of science that is concerned with the question “How does art affect us physiologically and mentally, and how can this effect be used to improve wellbeing?” This paper examines the physiological processes behind perceiving beauty, and introduces different foundations that are using this phenomenon in order to improve mental health and well being. With the given information and the effectiveness of these foundations, this paper also provides my opinion on the convenience of Neuroaesthetics in mental health improvement, and emphasizes the importance of further focus and research on Neuroaesthetics as a form of therapy.References
